EV & PHEV Owner's Guide to Sunshades and Car Covers in Pakistan (2026)

Pakistan is in the middle of an electrified car wave. Arif Habib Limited's launch tracker expected 23 new models between June and December 2026, and 20 of them are EVs or plug-in hybrids. Still to come this year: the Changan Lumin EV in October, and the BYD Sealion 6, Denza B5 and B8 and several others in December. If you own one or are about to, the accessories you need are a little different from a petrol car.

Why EVs and PHEVs Need a Slightly Different Approach

More glass. Many new EVs and PHEVs have large windows and panoramic glass roofs. More glass means more sun in the cabin and more heat build-up when parked.

The AC runs on the battery. In an EV, cooling a hot cabin draws from the same battery that gives you range. Keeping heat out while parked means less work for the AC when you get in.

Screens and premium interiors. Large touchscreens, vegan leather and light-coloured trims are common on new EVs. Direct sun fades and heats them.

Sensors and charge ports. Cameras, radar and charge-port flaps need a cover that fits properly and doesn't strain or scratch them.

Car Covers for EVs and PHEVs

Most EVs in Pakistan are parked outside at home or at work, and many charge overnight in a driveway. A cover protects the paint and glass through smog season, dew and summer sun. For an EV, check:

• Soft inner lining so large glass roofs and gloss-black trims don't get micro-scratches.
• Breathable waterproof layer so condensation doesn't sit on the paint or around sensors.
• A snug, stable fit with elastic hems, so wind can't drag the cover across camera lenses.

FAQ

Do sunshades help an EV's range?

They reduce how hot the cabin gets while parked, so the AC has less heat to remove when you set off. The effect depends on the car, the weather and how you drive.

Will sunshades affect my EV's cameras or sensors?
