Magnetic vs Snap-On Car Window Shades: Which Is Better in Pakistan?

For most Pakistani cars, a model-specific snap-on shade fits better than a magnetic curtain. Snap-on shades sit inside the window frame on a flexible steel-wire frame, so they cover the glass edge to edge. Magnetic curtains need exposed steel around the window and are usually cut to a universal size, which leaves gaps.

One thing to clear up first: PremiumExo and QuikSnap shades use no magnets. They also use no suction cups, tape or tools. You press them into the window frame and pull a tab to remove them.

How Magnetic Car Curtains Work

A magnetic curtain has small magnets sewn into its border. They cling to the metal frame around the side window, not to the glass. That is why fit depends on your door: where the frame is aluminium, plastic or thick rubber, the magnets have nothing to grip and the curtain sags.

  • Good: cheap, quick, moves between cars.
  • Watch for: universal sizes leave light gaps at the corners; some curtains block part of the side mirror view; a curtain that hangs into the window channel can catch when the glass moves.

How Snap-on Shades Work

Snap-on shades have a flexible steel-wire frame wrapped in mesh. Each shade is cut for one model and year range, so the frame matches the window opening. You hold it at the edges, line it up and press lightly until it seats in the frame. To remove it, pull the tag.

QuikSnap is PremiumExo’s parent brand. Every PremiumExo shade is a QuikSnap-design shade, with the same materials, warranty and policies.

  • Good: edge-to-edge coverage, breathable micro-pore mesh, no magnets or suction cups, 1-year warranty, stores flat in its pouch.
  • Watch for: it only fits the model it was made for, so check your year range before ordering. Don’t fold it tightly.

Toyota Corolla (2014–2026). A universal curtain is a rectangle; the Corolla’s side glass isn’t, so the corners stay open. The model-specific 4-piece set follows that curve. A matching rear-window shade is also available. → Toyota sunshades

Suzuki Swift (2022–2026). Small windows mean a universal curtain often overlaps the frame and hangs loose. The Swift set is cut to size, and a separate rear-window shade is available for the same years. → Suzuki sunshades

Haval H6 (2021–2026, plus 2025–2026 facelift). SUVs have large rear glass and fixed quarter windows behind the rear doors. Magnetic curtains rarely cover the quarter glass. For the H6 you can add rear-window and side-quarter shades to the 4-piece set for full coverage. → Haval sunshades

Why Fit Matters more in Pakistan than Almost Anywhere

In a mild climate, a shade with a small gap at the corner is a minor annoyance. In a Pakistani summer it isn’t. A strip of uncovered glass lets direct sun land on the same patch of seat or skin for the whole drive, and on a 44°C afternoon in Lahore that patch gets hot fast.

Three things in Pakistani driving make fit matter:

  • Long exposure. Cars sit outside offices, schools and markets for hours. A shade has to cover the glass all day, not just look tidy.
  • Back-seat passengers. Children and elders often ride in the back on long family trips. Those rear doors are where gaps hurt most.
  • Dust and heat on the fittings. Suction cups lose grip when glass heats up and dust gets under them. Adhesive softens. A shade that depends on either won’t last a summer.

That is the design brief QuikSnap was built around: a shape cut for each window, held by a frame instead of glue, suction or magnets.

Which Windows Should You Cover?

Most buyers start with the four side doors. Depending on your car and how you park, you may want more.

How to Fit QuikSnap Shades (under a minute)

  1. Take the shades out of the pouch and unfold them. Each piece is shaped for its own window.
  2. Hold the shade by its edges and line it up with the inside of the window frame.
  3. Press lightly around the edge until the frame seats into the window opening. No tools, no clips.
  4. Check the corners sit flush; if one corner lifts, press it back into the frame.
  5. To remove, pull the tab. Lay the shades flat in the pouch.

Magnetic curtains are just as quick to put on. The difference shows later: a curtain that clings to the door frame can slide, sag in the middle, or catch the window seal if the glass moves.

Safety and Night Driving

Whatever type you choose, follow two rules:

  • Keep the driver’s view and mirrors clear. On the driver’s window, use a shade when parked or on slow city runs, not on a fast motorway at night.
  • Don’t hang anything over the pillars or roof edge where side curtain airbags deploy. QuikSnap shades sit inside the window opening rather than hanging from the roof line; check your car’s manual for where its airbags deploy.

PremiumExo’s micro-pore mesh is designed so passengers can still see out. At night, most drivers simply leave the rear shades on and take the front ones off.

Care and Storage

  • Wipe with a damp cloth; no harsh cleaners
  • Store flat in the pouch; don’t fold tightly, as the steel-wire frame keeps its shape best when stored flat
  • Keep them away from sharp objects in the boot

Looked after this way, a set lasts season after season, and it’s backed by a 1-year warranty.

Which should you buy?

  • Buy snap-on if you want full coverage on one car, park outdoors daily, or carry children in the back.
  • Buy magnetic if you swap the shade between cars or need something for a few weeks only — and your door frames are steel.
  • Skip suction cups for daily use in Pakistani summers; heat loosens them.
  • Add a windshield shade either way. Side shades don’t cover the front glass, so pair them with a foldable windshield shade when parked.

FAQ

Are QuikSnap Shades Magnetic?

No. QuikSnap and PremiumExo shades use a flexible steel-wire frame that snaps into the window frame. There are no magnets, suction cups or adhesive.

Do Snap-on Shades Fit Every Car?

Each set fits one model and year range. PremiumExo makes sets for 170+ model and year ranges, from Suzuki Alto to BYD Seal. If yours isn’t listed, send your car details on WhatsApp.

Will Magnetic Curtains Damage My Paint?

Magnets sit on the door frame, so grit trapped under them can scuff it over time. Wipe the frame before fitting.

Can I see through Snap-on Mesh Shades?

Yes. The micro-pore mesh cuts glare and direct sun while passengers can still see out.

What if the Shade doesn’t Fit?

Check the year range first. If a shade is defective, PremiumExo covers return shipping.
